Tuscany - La Valle Graziosa

In the hearth of Tuscany, not far from Pisa and at the slopes of Monte Pisano, the mount that separates Lucca from Pisa, as reported by Dante in his Divine Comedy, there is the Valle Graziosa ("Pretty Valley").

The valley earned this name because of the very favourable climatic conditions, as it faces the Tyrrenian Sea and it is protected from northern cold winds.

The Certosa of Pisa and Calci

Calci

The place is full of interesting itineraries, both from the naturalistic and artistic point of view. Moreover it is very close to Pisa and Lucca, two of the most important art towns in Italy.

The Charterhouse of Pisa is one of the best architectural places in the region. The building, begun in 1366 and remaked especially between 16° and 18° century, has characteristical baroque traits.

Inside the Certosa there is the Museum of Natural History of the University of Pisa, founded in 1591.

The Natural Park of Migliarino San Rossore

Only few kilometers separate the hills of olive trees from the Natural Park of Migliarino, S. Rossore e Massaciuccoli, a 23.000 hectars protected coastal area between the town of Livorno and Viareggio.

Marina di Pisa, Tirrenia and the sea of Versilia are only some of the seaside resorts you can reach in a short time.
